Designed with sensitivity to each site and with regard for what is truly a pristine, natural setting, each house is distinct yet a complement to neighboring architecture. Attention to what is natural, native, and sustainable guides each design decision, beginning with advanced framing techniques and resourceful use of lumber. Climate considerations and ease of maintenance will be integral to both the design methods and materials used in construction. For example, the exterior walls will be heavily insulated and use rain screen technology to prevent moisture from seeping into the house. The siding materials will be a low-maintenance, cement board system and roofs will be 50-year quality. Windows and doors will be from Northwest manufacturers; stone walls and accents will be native basalt.
